Coffee Vendor Discovers Huge Benefits of LED Retrofit
A Texas company that specializes in single-brew gourmet coffee machines and vending machines for offices has joined the ranks of companies all over the world that are seeing the benefits of switching to LED lighting. FreshBrew, of Houston, Texas, announced that it has replaced all the lighting in its 90,000-square-foot warehouse, manufacturing facility and offices, as well as all other interior and exterior lighting.
FreshBrew, which has been in business, though not under the same name, since 1919, calls itself the most technologically advanced full-service vending company in the region. The CEO of FreshBrew, Dari Ansari, said in a release that he was “amazed” by the effects of changing to LED. Not only has it reduced the company’s lighting bill, but he says the facility is actually cooler now with the low heat-output LED lighting, a definite bonus in Texas. He expects to realize “huge” savings on air-conditioning as well.
“It’s like being in a whole new facility,” Ansari said, and it has had “a dramatically positive effect on not only the work environment, but the attitude and well-being of our staff.”
Green City Planet says that any business can benefit from a money-saving LED retrofit, claiming that there is virtually no incandescent (PAR), recessed, metal halide or high-pressure sodium bulb that they can’t replace. As a guide to companies considering a retrofit, Green City recommends that you divide your present bulbs’ wattage by 3 or 4 for metal halide and sodium bulbs, and by 9 or 10 for incandescent bulbs to calculate how much you will reduce your energy use. And it’s not necessary to replace the existing light fixtures, providing they’re in good condition.
